NetSuite's October 2026 banking updates introduce several improvements worth reviewing before your next month-end close.

The enhancements focus on three areas of the reconciliation process:

• Transaction matching: Improved identification of customers and vendors from bank transaction descriptions, including longer memos and references containing punctuation or alphanumeric characters.

• Reconciliation monitoring: A new summary metric shows the number of transactions automatically reconciled over the preceding 30 days, providing additional visibility into automated processing.

• Bank connectivity: When multifactor authentication (MFA) interrupts an automatic bank import, NetSuite provides notifications and identifies affected connections requiring attention.

Why does this matter for accounting teams?

Bank reconciliation problems are not always caused by incorrect transactions. Incomplete imports, unmatched activity, and overlooked exceptions can also delay the close or compromise the completeness of reconciliations.

These enhancements may help accounting teams identify those issues earlier. However, improved automation does not replace the need to verify matches, investigate exceptions, and confirm that all expected bank activity has been imported.

For controllers and accounting managers, the practical next step is to review bank-feed monitoring and reconciliation procedures as these enhancements become available in their NetSuite environment.
